Biography
Jermaine A. Brookshire, Jr. is an associate in Herrick's Corporate Department where he focuses his practice on corporate finance and strategic transactions, technology agreements, commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, debt and venture capital financing rounds, securities law compliance, corporate governance, and other general corporate matters.
Jermaine is also a member of Herrick’s Sports Law Group, representing clients in the sports industry in various corporate and transactional matters.
Prior to joining Herrick, Jermaine was an associate at Wiggin and Dana LLP where he worked primarily within the firm’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital Practice Group, advising startups on formation inquiries, structure and scaling, and counseling them through multiple financing rounds (and even a successful exit event). He also has experience with health care specific corporate transactions. Jermaine held a legal internship with the Yale-New Haven Health System in the Legal and Risk Services Department in New Haven, Connecticut. Jermaine also worked as a Senior Analyst for the Committee on Labor for the New York State Assembly in Albany, New York.
Jermaine is a devoted community volunteer and youth mentor. He is the Founder and CEO of The Great Expectations Movement (GEM), Inc. GEM is a non-profit organization focused on guiding the next generation's personal and professional development through mentorship and workshops designed to help the youth develop their own specific plans for success. Jermaine is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Horizons at The Foote School which is anchored around its robust summer academic and enrichment program targeting inner city youth in the Greater New Haven Connecticut region. Jermaine is also a very active member of the Connecticut Bar Association where he holds various executive leadership roles and serves on multiple task forces and committees.
