Legal 500 United States 2024 Recognizes Herrick in Four Practice Areas
Herrick, Feinstein LLP was once again recognized by Legal 500 United States 2024 edition as a leading law firm, with rankings in Real Estate (Tier 4), Land Use/Zoning (Tier 3), Real Estate Construction (including construction litigation) (Tier 5) and Sports (Tier 4).
Real Estate
Legal 500 lauded Herrick's Real Estate Department noting that its "'broad' real estate practice oversees acquisitions, sales, and leasing, in addition to financing, joint ventures, and condominiums." The publication further stated that department co-chair and the firm's Executive Chair, Belinda G. Schwartz "is a prominent and active real estate practitioner in the New York market. She leads alongside Jonathan A. Adelsberg who focuses on sales, acquisitions, large scale developments, and workouts." Additionally, Yariv C. Ben-Ari was recognized for "his transaction experience together with his role as co-chair of the firm’s Israel and hospitality groups." Jason Goldstoff is also noted as a key lawyer.
Interviewees particularly noted that "Herrick is a well-rounded firm with a broad practice. They are very business oriented and understand what is needed to get a deal done. Herrick has a top real estate practice."
Real Estate Construction & Construction Litigation
In discussing Herrick's construction and construction litigation work, Legal 500 noted that Herrick "has demonstrable experience in acting for owners and investors across a broad range of disputes and litigation involving luxury real estate." Legal 500 stated that the Litigation Department co-chair, William R. Fried "counts real estate owners, sponsors, developers, contractors and construction professionals among his key roster of clients." Scott E. Mollen "focuses on construction and real estate litigation." Carol M. Goodman, co-chair of the Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Employment Practice, was also recognized as leader in the team, noted for her litigation work.
Land Use & Zoning
Herrick's Land Use & Zoning Group was also ranked by Legal 500, noting that it "represents clients in matters spanning the entire development process, including zoning changes, special permits, entitlement and historic and landmark preservation, as well as gaining government approvals." Chair of the Land Use & Zoning Group, Mitchell A. Korbey, is ranked as a Leading Lawyer and has "vast experience in land use and private planning matters and is regularly involved in major rezoning and waterfront development projects throughout New York." An interviewee added that Mitch "is extremely knowledgeable about land use law." The publication also noted that associate, Robert Huberman "stands out for his ability to advise clients on preparing land use applications and approvals for rezonings, special permits and large-scale developments." Robert Huberman was also ranked as a Rising Star in the field.
Sports
Legal 500 recognized Herrick's Sports Law Group highlighting that it "comprehensively handles the corporate, IP, employment, and litigation aspects of sports law for a roster of international and domestic clients including sports franchises, associations, and corporates entities." Legal 500 also recognized individual members of the group noting that "The New York-based practice is jointly headed by Irwin A. Kishner and Daniel Etna, who focus on M&A, entertainment law, and stadium financing matters in addition to advising on naming rights agreements and debt financings for professional sports teams, as well as by Eric A. Stabler who chiefly advises owners, investors, and sports networks on financial and corporate transactions, Morris F. DeFeo, Jr., who is knowledgeable on corporate governance matters, and Liliana Chang, who focuses on joint ventures. Also recommended is Tara Guarneri-Ferrara, "who maintains close client relationships with both leagues and financial institutions."
