Carol Goodman, co-chair of Herrick's Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Employment Practice, spoke to CNN Business about the New York City Pay Transparency Law that takes effect November 1, 2022. This law requires businesses to include a "good faith" salary range for every job that is advertised.

Carol is quoted as saying, "A personal outreach, [such as] a phone call or a conversation would not be covered as it is not a written advertisement," but, she added, it's not clear whether a personal outreach by letter or email would require disclosure.
