Herrick Bolsters Corporate Department with the Addition of Crowell & Moring’s Morris F. DeFeo, Jr.
Herrick, Feinstein LLP, a prominent law firm celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, has significantly enhanced its domestic and cross-border capital markets, M&A and corporate governance capabilities with the addition of Morris F. DeFeo, Jr., who joins as partner and co-chair of the firm’s corporate department.
Morris joins Herrick from Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office, where he formerly served as co-chair of the firm’s corporate group, head of the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) practice and a member of the corporate group steering committee.
Morris is a seasoned corporate practitioner with significant experience in U.S and international capital markets and M&A transactions, and corporate governance counseling for public and private clients in the U.S., MENA, Europe, India and East Asia.
His arrival furthers Herrick’s advisory capabilities in a number of areas, including mergers, acquisitions, consolidations, joint ventures and other complex transactions; public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, and corporate governance and compliance counseling for boards, committees and directors of public and private companies.
Morris joins a corporate department that has recently advised on a number of notable transactions, including the sale of a New Jersey-based cosmetics supplier to a leading private equity fund, a $200 million secured credit facility to a consumer lending business, VG Growth Partners’ investments in the specialty food companies Crunchsters, Hilary’s Eat Well and free2BFoods; a strategic investment in Legends Hospitality by New Mountain Capital, and Vanbarton Group’s $450 million sale of Manhattan’s 180 Water Street to Metro Loft Management.
Herrick chairman Irwin A. Kishner said, “Morris is a superb lawyer who will enhance our corporate transactional capabilities across the board, and particularly in cross-border transactions and REITs, where we continue to see significant client interest and deal flow. We are very excited to welcome him to the firm as we celebrate our 90th anniversary.”
