This New York Hotel Quarantined the Sick. Now the Owners Regret It.

Partner and co-chair of Herrick's Real Estate Hospitality Group, Yariv C. Ben-Ari, was quoted in The Wall Street Journal discussing how hotels that acted as quarantine facilities are facing challenges related to being "Covid Hotels" throughout the pandemic. 

The article states, "In New York City, there are more than 130 commercial hotels used as shelters, including 67 locations that house around 10,000 individuals relocated from congregate shelters at the height of the pandemic, according to the Department of Social Services."

Yariv commented to The Wall Street Journal, "It’s impractical for the government to step into the shoes of an operator and take over an asset such as a hotel."
