Herrick, Feinstein LLP was once again recognized by The Legal 500 United States 2022 edition as a leading law firm, with rankings in our Real Estate (Tier 4), Land Use/Zoning (Tier 3) and Sports (Tier 4) practice areas.

Real Estate

The Legal 500 United States 2022 described Herrick's Real Estate Department as a leading firm serving "owners, developers, lenders and investors in developments, acquisitions and sales, and commercial and ground leasing." The ranking also highlighted multiple recommended attorneys: "The firm offers an experienced team all specializing in cooperatives and condominiums, along with special counsel Brett J. Gottlieb, focusing on affordable housing. Mitchell A. Korbey leads its land use and zoning group, while Patrick J. O’Sullivan, Jr. is the go-to for Qualified Opportunity Zones. Other significant transactional attorneys include Jonathan A. AdelsbergMichael A. Smith and department chair, Belinda G. Schwartz."

Land Use & Zoning

Herrick's Land Use & Zoning practice was also ranked by The Legal 500, recognized as "well-established in the New York real estate law market" and having "a fully integrated land use and zoning group led by renowned figure Mitchell A. Korbey." 

The Legal 500 explained, "the team acts for owners, developers, lenders, investors and other stakeholders in a range of developments, working with other subsets of the real estate practice to provide comprehensive assistance. The department also handles zoning litigation, a recent example saw Korbey acting for Mitsui Fudosan and SJP Properties in a challenge from a neighborhood coalition of residents and politicians to a luxury high-rise development. Associate Robert Huberman has extensive experience preparing land use applications and obtaining complex approvals for rezonings, large-scale developments, special permits, authorizations, and certifications. The team also draws on the expertise of planning and development specialist Vinh Van Vo, who assists attorneys with the gamut of matters."

Sports

The Legal 500 United States 2022 ranked Herrick's Sports Law Group as a leader in the industry, stating that Herrick "is typically retained by leagues, teams, owners, banks and investors to advise on an array of issues." The Legal 500 added, "The practice is jointly led by Irwin A. Kishner, a renowned sports lawyers who handles a busy caseload of financing and M&A, sport betting matters and concession agreements, Daniel A. Etna, an expert in the financing, construction and development of arenas and stadiums, Eric A. Stabler, who is noted for his financing expertise, and Morris F. DeFeo, Jr., who focuses on capital markets, M&A and corporate governance."
