Elizabeth Holtzman wrote an article in Time, discussing why she resigned from the Department of Homeland Security. The former Congresswoman, along with three other council members, resigned due to the unjust practice of the Administration separating children from their parents at the U.S. border. Holtzman reflected on her time as Congresswoman, and how the U.S. had previously demonstrated their social responsibility by helping immigrants with the Refugee Act of 1980, which she co-authored along with Senator Ted Kennedy. She now encourages the public to “press the Administration to find a more humane and more comprehensive solution, like our country has done in the past.”
