Liz Holtzman wrote an op-ed for The Nation, discussing how Nixon’s resignation from office to avoid certain impeachment should stand as a warning to Trump about the consequences of trying block the investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into “Russiagate.” Holtzman argued that whatever tactics Trump may use to remove Mueller, will not automatically shield him from accountability. She said, “in 1974, the American people turned on Nixon, despite his landslide victory eleven months earlier.”
