Why It’s Critical to Properly Train Sexual Assault Investigators

Elizabeth Holtzman appeared on MSNBC Live, discussing the need to train sexual assault investigators in light of allegations made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Holtzman was a D.A. in the 1980’s, the same decade in which Professor Christine Blasey Ford claims the assault happens. She said, “at that time, it was terrible for women who were victims,” even in progressive states like New York. Holtzman suggested that over time a lot of progress has been made in efforts to investigate sexual assault accusations, but the FBI might not have the experience to handle this investigation given these crimes are typically handled at the state and local levels.
