Occupancy Requests Must Now Be Submitted Through DOB NOW: Build
February 25, 2021Herrick’s Land Use & Zoning Team has learned that effective March 1, 2021, all Occupancy requests for BIS and DOB NOW jobs, must be submitted through the DOB NOW: Build portal. Additionally, the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) and Temporary Building Identification Number (TBIN) will also need to be obtained through DOB NOW.
The new procedure will impact thousands of properties in the five boroughs, specifically existing buildings with current renewable TCOs and New Building applications preparing for their first TCO. Clients should anticipate glitches and delays associated with the transition from the existing Buildings Information System (BIS) to the DOB NOW portal.
In a push to streamline procedures and increase transparency, DOB NOW: Build is just one of four modules that comprise the newly redesigned Buildings Department portal meant to accommodate online job filings, get real time access to job statuses and information, and streamline processing to produce quicker turnaround time for submitted filings. DOB will continue to provide training classes, guides, and new updates on the transition.
