Designing With History, Not Around It
Herrick was featured in an officeinsight magazine article discussing the firm's redesigned headquarters at 2 Park Avenue.
The article highlighted how Herrick's new space showcases the building’s original architectural elements, the firm’s archival materials and a curated collection of company artifacts, demonstrating "how a legacy workplace can be reimagined through the dual lens of heritage and human connection."
One of the designers of the space noted that "central to the project was the firm’s own art and artifact collection, architectural etchings, historic photographs, original cornices and sculptural elements, curated into a 'gallery walk' extending from reception to the café. Positioned along a primary circulation path, these pieces transform the simple act of moving through the office into an encounter with the firm’s history, communicating its legacy and values without a word of explanation."
The article concluded that "historic buildings, often seen as logistical challenges, are in fact rare assets, spaces that arrive with character, depth and narrative already embedded in their walls. The firms that recognize this are the ones turning square footage into something far more valuable: a reason to belong."
