Spotify Puts on an Edgier Kind of Show for Investors
Morris DeFeo was quoted in the Financial Times, discussing Spotify’s atypical approach to going public. Instead of the traditional investor roadshow, Spotify live streamed a three-hour presentation to the public, which aligns with their unconventional approach to going public - a direct listing rather than an IPO. During the presentation, the Spotify executive leadership wore hoodies and jeans and played music videos between financial projections. DeFeo said, “they were able to communicate who they are and what they are about. It is great to be able to articulate a clear vision. What is more compelling to investors is being able to execute on it. And the market is the ultimate judge.” (FT subscription required)
