LIC Project Signals Expansion of Mixed Manufacturing and Residential Uses
Herrick partner Mitch Korbey was quoted in Crain's New York Business regarding New York City's evolving policy on mixed-use zoning, which is playing out in a new 1.5 million square-foot residential and light manufacturing complex on a pair of city-owned sites in Queens. Mitch, who worked at the Department of City Planning when the city's first mixed-use zoning was enacted, highlighted the city's "push to require—not merely permit—ground-floor light industry." Mitch also said the policy could work, provided that the city provides a flexible definition of what constitutes an industrial use.
