Developers, City Race to Get Approvals before Regime Change

Land Use & Zoning Department chair, Mitchell Korbey, was quoted by The Real Deal in an article that discussed the rush of zoning applications before the elections of a new Mayor and City Council members in November 2021.

Mitch commented on the possibility of the new administration or new City Council having effects on the ULURP process, which is dictated by the New York City Charter. Mitch says, "Changing the process really would require a much more far-reaching set of approvals... Much more important to most folks is: Where is the City Council member or City Council on this specific project?"
