Herrick, in partnership with Acclime, hosted a New York Tech Week Lunch & Learn titled "The Six-Figure Mistakes International Founders Keep Making in the U.S." This event brought together legal, tax and market-entry professionals to break down exactly what international founders get wrong in their first 12-24 months stateside, and how to fix the most common mistakes. Irwin Kishner, co-chair of Herrick's Sports Law Group and co-chair of Herrick's Corporate Department and Barry Werbin, counsel and member of Herrick's Intellectual Property and Technology Department, were featured panelists along with professionals from our TAG Alliances partners, Sax Accounting and Acclime.
The conversation was built around real scenarios founders face in months 1–24: where to incorporate, how to handle global IP, what U.S. tax exposure actually looks like, and how to structure governance when your team spans three countries, and was targeted at international founders building in or expanding to the U.S.
