Appropriation Art and Brands: Collision Course or Collaboration?
2 Park Avenue
New York City
The Art Newspaper and Herrick's Art Law Group hosted the final event in our 2018 Art Business panel series. The discussion focused on a number of recent cases that highlighted the appropriation of artists’ work in advertising or products produced by commercial entities, and issues ranging from how artists are exposed under current US copyright law, the due diligence that companies and their agencies should undertake when using an artist's work, as well as the opportunities these relationships can create for artists when handled appropriately.
