Some Employers Still Require COVID-19 Vaccines

Carol Goodman, co-chair of Herrick's Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Employment Practice, spoke to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) about findings from a recent survey stating that nearly a third of businesses are still requiring their employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

In addition to discussing employer vaccine requirements, the article noted that some employers are also becoming increasingly liberal in granting religious or medical accommodation requests. However, Carol noted that "there are some jobs where an accommodation is not possible, such as where employees must work closely with each other or with the public and risks can't be reduced by personal protective equipment, especially in certain health care settings or nursing homes."
