Irwin Kishner was interviewed for an A.M. Best TV segment on the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and discussed the range of risk exposures and insurance coverage involved with holding this international event. These include potential issues involving terrorism, venue construction, event cancellation, athletes’ health and media continuity. “The question really comes down to the unanticipated," said Kishner. "With an international venue there is always something unanticipated. As for Rio, you’re seeing a panoply of issues, from the Zika virus, to political unrest, to a lack of proper infrastructure. For all of these and others, you need coverage to insure any loss of revenues."
