Governor Hochul’s Recent Announcement Lifting Statewide Indoor Mask Mandates in New York
Carol Goodman, co-chair of Herrick's Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Employment Practice, was a featured guest on SiriusXM's Wharton Business Daily podcast hosted by Dan Loney.
In this episode, Carol spoke with Dan about Governor Hochul’s recent announcement lifting the statewide indoor mask-or-vaccine mandate in New York.
Carol reminded listeners that the mask mandates were put in place last December as a temporary measure. She noted, "These guidelines were originally put in place to add another layer of protection through the holidays, the winter months and the emergence of the Omicron variant."
Carol confirmed that mask-or-vaccine mandates are now optional for most businesses, although restrictions remain in place for certain settings such has health care and public transit. This means that companies no longer subject to the statewide mandate can decide on whether to continue to implement mask mandates.
