Developers Of 200 Amsterdam Won’t Have To Cut Down Skyscraper, Court Rules

Partner Scott Mollen was quoted in Bisnow, responding to an appellate victory for the developers of a 52-story residential condominium building, 200 Amsterdam.

The developers of an Upper West Side tower were told by a judge last year that they would need to deconstruct 20 stories from their building. On Tuesday, New York State's Appellate Division ruled in favor of the developers finding the building permit issued was lawful and shouldn't be withdrawn.

If the lower court's ruling had been upheld, there could have been major ramifications for development in the city - some suggested already-built properties would have to be adapted. Scott, who represents the project, told Bisnow last year that at least 20 buildings used similar interpretation of the zoning laws.
