What Pandemic Law’s End Could Mean For NY Housing Courts
Herrick partner Andrew J. Wagner was quoted in Law360 discussing the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act (CEEFPA), which is set to expire January 15th. The article stated that the law has largely prevented residential evictions since March 2020 and that residential landlords "are tentatively hopeful that cases will begin to move toward resolution — whether that means rent debt repaid or an apartment repossessed."
Andrew reflected, "It's not like the expiration is a panacea," adding, "It's just going to provide landlords with potentially a light at the end of the tunnel."
