Elizabeth Holtzman was quoted in a Q&A with Slate, discussing her resignation from the advisory council of the Department of Homeland Security. Holtzman was among three other council members that resigned due to Trump’s administration practice of separating children at the U.S. border. The former Democratic congresswoman spoke about her role on the council, career in immigration and how immigration policies have changed over the past several decades. Upon reflecting on how the current administration has been handling these policies, Holtzman stated, “I think their approach to immigration is to make war on refugees and to make war on immigrants.”
