2022 NYREJ Industry Leaders: Jonathan Adelsberg
Real estate partner, co-chair of Real Estate and head of Herrick's Commercial Leasing Practice, Jonathan Adelsberg, was profiled by the New York Real Estate Journal in their 2022 Industry Leaders Spotlights. NYREJ spoke with a number of leaders in NYC commercial real estate about leadership, management and their long careers.
What is your management style?
Collaboration is the most important, along with leading by example. My aim is to foster creative outcomes both with internal conversations and when I partner with clients on deals. I see my role as providing a foundation for partners and associates to grow and evolve as professionals and individuals. I am open to experimenting with new ideas and concepts to distinguish Herrick in the market.
Describe what you would consider to be one of your top career highlights:
I’m still very proud of the work we did for the purchase of the Ring Portfolio by Extell Development. The transaction was comprised of 14 properties, including 212 Fifth Ave., 251 Park Ave. South and 17 West 60th St., added up to over one million s/f, mostly in the Midtown South area, for a total of more than $600 million.
What aspect of your position do you find most challenging?
I welcome all challenges of co-leading a department of our size. If it’s differing personalities, staffing or balancing growth with an industry specific practice that is consistently changing, I am happy to be of service to my team and our clients.
