MTA: We Gave Builder a Break, Then He Sued Us

Partner Brendan Schmitt was quoted by The Real Deal in an article discussing how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to appeal a decision by the New York State Supreme Court allowing construction of a Manhattan hotel to continue at 50 Trinity Place.

The article states that 50 Trinity Place "never requested to be relieved of the responsibility to build the elevator. Rather, conduits along Trinity Place prevented the developer from constructing the device on its property. Instead, [the developer] is building out a mechanical room for the MTA." Brendan stated, "[The MTA’s argument] ignores the fact that we are actually part of the public improvement, that we’ve dedicated a large part of our cellar to the MTA in perpetuity."
