Herrick partner Ron Levine joined Faith Greenfield, Vice President-Legal for Campbell Soup Company, in addressing an audience of Rutgers Law students on the opportunities and demands presented to those interested in pursuing a career in food law.

Drawing upon his experiences defending food and beverage companies against a variety of claims, Ron warned that the industry is often targeted by public interest groups and plaintiff’s lawyers looking to bring class-action suits, and advised that food and beverage attorneys need to develop an expertise in their clients’ businesses, terminology and objectives, coupled with an ability to deliver a realistic assessment of the likelihood of success and expected cost involved in defending a legal claim. .

Besides this recent event at Rutgers Law, Ron also chairs the External Advisory Board for the Rutgers University Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health, and teaches Electronic Discovery as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Law School.
