Update: City of Yes – Zoning for Housing Opportunity

November 21, 2024

As Crain's is reporting, and our contacts at the City Council are confirming, "City of Yes for Housing Opportunity," which will include the most broad sweeping zoning changes since the adoption of the current Zoning Resolution in 1961, is poised to be adopted in the coming weeks.

City of Yes will relax several density regulations for housing development in medium and higher-density areas of the City, will allow for the reuse of scores of underutilized office towers and will adjust or eliminate parking requirements in many communities.

While the Administration's full plan will be modified – particularly in lower-density neighborhoods – the vast majority of the plan will likely be made law.

Please see our previous alert City of Yes – Proposed Zoning Change to Promote Additional Housing Development, for additional information and reach out to the Land Use & Zoning Team with any questions.
