The Passing of Michael Heitner

The New York Times

The partners, associates, counsel and staff of Herrick, Feinstein LLP, express profound sorrow on the untimely passing of our colleague and friend for over 42 years, Michael Heitner. Mike's boyish good looks and athletic prowess, his brilliant and incisive intellect, and his passion and commitment to serve our law firm and its clients with excellence will never be forgotten. Mike became known as "THE lawyer to the boxing business" because on behalf of Top Rank he negotiated contracts with all the great boxers of the last 50 years. Indeed, Mike was the founding member of what has become our firm's prominent sports practice. In addition to being a great lawyer, Mike was a wonderful teacher to our younger corporate associates. We are very grateful for his unselfish willingness to be such a great mentor. Mike's family is very dear to us and we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his adored wife and children and to all the other members of his family. We know that they will remain forever enriched by his life, just as we all will.
