More U.S. states are making employers say how much they pay
Carol Goodman, co-chair of Herrick's Litigation Department and chair of the firm's Employment Practice, spoke to CBS News about the New York City Pay Transparency Law that takes effect November 1, 2022. This law requires businesses to include a "good faith" salary range for every job that is advertised.
Carol noted, "It will probably raise a lot of questions and HR departments should be prepared to field questions from existing employees who may call in and say, 'I see a posting for a similar position as I am holding but my pay is lower." She added, "HR pros will want to be prepared to speak with their employees about that."
