Law360 quoted Barbaros M. Karaahmet, Herrick's Chief Operating Partner, in a report on a webinar panel hosted by LAC Group entitled In COVID-19 World, Firms Get Creative On Client Engagement. Karaahmet presented alongside a panel of marketing and business executives that discussed how marketing and business development departments are supporting their firms' client development efforts in a remote environment.

The article focused on how the pandemic has pushed law firms to think more creatively about how they interact with their existing client base, since they cannot develop business in traditional ways, such as networking events. Karaahmet noted that lawyers are placing more focus on how existing clients can help lead to new opportunities for different practices.

The article further noted a consensus among the panelists that law firms have shifted from a "cost-containment" strategy due to general uncertainty to a focus on effective remote operations. Marketing efforts will continue to include actively working with attorneys on potential new approaches to their practices," Karaahmet said. He added that [b]usiness development became very important."
