Foreign Investors Display Vigilance
Christina Ying was quoted in Northeast Real Estate Business regarding the consistency in foreign real estate investing in the Northeast despite tempering activity this year. The primary driver of overseas investment in U.S. properties is the belief that the U.S. is a safe haven with better economic prospects than most places around the globe, although Ying noted that foreign buyers have become pickier. Ying said, "Twelve to 18 months ago, foreign capital was very interested in development deals, but now we’re seeing a trend toward cash-flowing properties in Manhattan or toward other markets where yields are a little higher."
