Environmental Group Suing to Stop BJ’s Development, Save Wetlands
Mitch Korbey, partner and chair of Herrick's Land Use & Zoning Group, was quoted in the Staten Island Advance when they reported that local conservationists are suing the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in an effort to force the department to redo its environmental assessment of the site.
The article states, "Mitchell Korbey, a zoning and land use attorney representing project developer Josifa LLC, expressed confidence that the development will move forward despite the lawsuit."
Mitch is quoted as saying, "We remain confident in our approvals, having received a full and complete sign-off and a permit from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation based on our wetlands protection program and well-designed site plan and having completed the ULURP process and it’s own environmental review and Planning Commission approval... We look forward to providing hundreds of new local jobs with advancement potential and excellent, lower-cost shopping for Staten Islanders."
