Howard Spiegler spoke at an art restitution program at Williams College on his involvement in the case of the stolen Egon Schiele painting, Portrait of Wally.

Portrait of Wally depicts Schiele's model and mistress Wally Neuzil and is said to have been stolen by a Nazi from a Jewish art dealer, Lea Bondi. Bondi fled Austria after annexation by Germany and allegedly never recovered the painting after being forced under duress to hand it over on the eve of escape.
