Irwin Kishner was quoted in Louisville Business First, discussing the potential legal ramifications stemming from the University of Louisville removing Papa John’s name from Cardinal Stadium. The U of L’s President, Neeli Bendapudi, made the decision to change the stadium name despite a contract with Papa John’s running through 2040. Kishner explained the potential legal ramifications the University could face from violating the agreement. He added that it's not unusual for naming rights deals to change, but that these changes usually result from companies changing their corporate names, business combinations or mergers, or naming rights partners being hit with difficult situations, such as a bankruptcy.
