Paralegals provide support to our Litigation, Real Estate, Corporate, and Trusts & Estates departments.  Experienced paralegals may be generalists within a department, or may have specialties, such as art law research, bankruptcy, foreclosure, insurance defense, products liability, securities, condominium/co-op conversion, foundation work, blue sky and more.

Paralegals are included in departmental luncheons, where video conferencing between our three offices allows for collaboration on ideas and approaches. Additional training sessions and luncheons are held for the paralegal department as a whole and by practice group. The firm further promotes paralegal education by bringing in outside trainers and encouraging paralegals to attend outside seminars and conferences on matters of law, technology and more.

Herrick values the quality of assistance that our paralegals can provide to our clients and attorneys above quantity of billable hours. We provide performance feedback to all paralegals at individual mid-year meetings and formal year-end evaluations to foster professional development and skill-building. (New paralegals may also receive feedback after 90 days.) We invite each paralegal to take an active role in his or her own annual review by submitting a self-evaluation that highlights special achievements and growth from the year and contemplates future goals.
