John C. St. Jeanos is partner of the firm, and a member of Herrick's Real Estate Department.
He focuses his practice in the area of commercial real estate, with a particular emphasis on institutional mortgage lending and borrowing.
John has substantial experience representing banks, insurance companies, pension funds and other major financial institutions, as well as owners and developers of real property, in connection with complex commercial real estate transactions, including the structuring, financing, acquisition, sale and development of commercial, residential and mixed-use properties throughout the U.S.
John also represents clients in all aspects of construction, permanent, bridge and mezzanine financing. He also regularly counsels institutional, as well as private lenders in connection with the resolution of troubled loans, including loan workout and restructuring transactions.
While pursuing his law degree at Hofstra University School of Law, John served as an editor of the Hofstra Law Review. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Real Estate Board of New York and the Mortgage Bankers Association.
EU National Asset Manager - Hotel Loan Sales
Represented the $100 billion "bad bank" of an EU member state in the disposal of several large loans tied to U.S. hotels.
Pension Fund - Mortgage Financings
Representation of a New York State pension fund in multiple commercial mortgage loans, including the financing of the fee and leasehold positions in two Manhattan Garment District office buildings.
Anglo Irish Bank - 225 Rector Street
We helped Anglo Irish Bank Corporation in a complex foreclosure against a developer who became emblematic of the dramatic fall of some high-profile dealmakers during the New York City housing bust.
