Louis Tuchman was quoted in The New York Times about subpoenas received by several art galleries and dealers from the Manhattan district attorney's office requesting sales and shipping records, suggesting that investigators may be revisiting the issue of whether galleries and collectors are properly paying sales tax for art sold in New York. Louis Tuchman, chairman of Herrick's tax group, spoke generally that he wouldn't be surprised by an ongoing investigation. "When big sales get publicized, the tax authorities' ears prick up and they want to make sure they are getting their fair share," he said.
