Ray Hannigan was quoted in The Real Deal regarding Donald Trump’s litigation history with Manhattan real estate. “Like many savvy New York real estate players, Donald Trump most certainly uses litigation as a tool to get what he wants,” said Hannigan, who represented Trump in selling his stake in the Empire State Building in 2002. When referring to a lawsuit that Trump brought against the Malkin and Helmsley families to break a lease on the Empire State Building that was set to run until the year 2076, Hannigan said, “I think most people doubted that Trump’s lawsuit would go anywhere. It’s incredibly difficult to break a ground lease in New York … [It] ultimately paid off handsomely for Mr. Trump.”
