Richard Morris was quoted in Chief Executive regarding lessons for board members from recent troubles at pharmaceutical company Valeant, which included congressional investigations, and alleged accounting irregularities. Morris told the publication to “recognize fire where there’s smoke” and when issues such as accounting irregularities arise, directors “should take prompt and appropriate action to assess the accuracy of the reports both in the context of the specific concern that was expressed … and impact to policies and procedures.”
