Rivals DraftKings, FanDuel shake hands on merger

November 18, 2016 – Media Mention
The Deal

Daniel Etna was featured in The Deal regarding daily fantasy website operators DraftKings and FanDuel’s agreement to merge (subscription required). “Between all of the lawsuits and the declining business, with a seeming inability to attract new money and a very high burn rate, given the advertising to gain market share, it makes a lot of sense," said Etna. The deal will likely close in 2017, but could raise concerns among antitrust regulators due to the size and market share of both companies. Etna said he'd be surprised to see antitrust regulators block the deal given both the infancy of the industry and the struggles each company has endured over the past year or so.
