Mitch Korbey was quoted in the Commercial Observer, discussing the City Planning Commission beginning public review for a zoning change that would limit hotel development in industrial zones. The amendment would require hotel builders in industrial zoned areas to undergo a public review process in order to get the special permit required for a new hotel project. Korbey argued that the limit on hotels will hurt New York’s tourism industry. He said, “We had 64 million tourists visit New York last year. They need choices and a wide variety of places to stay. This will have a chilling effect on the tourism economy and an enormous impact on the city.”
