Jared Bartie is a partner in Herrick's Sports Law Group, where he focuses his practice on sports, entertainment and media transactions.

Featured in SportsBusiness Journal's "Power-Players: Outside Counsel" rankings and named "Sports Attorney of the Year" by the National Bar Association, Jared has more than two decades of sports and media experience, as both an attorney and business executive. His extensive legal, management, operations and administration experience includes:

  • Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel to the United States Tennis Association
  • Vice President of the NBA's renowned Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO) group, where he advised nine NBA clubs on revenue enhancement strategies
  • Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, where he was involved in the negotiation of Time Warner Cable Arena's multiyear naming rights transaction; a multiyear media rights transaction with Fox Sports; and a multiyear arena booking rights agreement with AEG
  • Executive Vice President and General Counsel of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

Jared counsels sports clients on a variety of high-profile matters, including team investments, prominent naming rights and sponsorship transactions, and media rights agreements. He also advises on arena operating agreements, food and beverage agreements, merchandise agreements, ticketing arrangements, suite licenses and front office, coach and player agreements.

Jared's representative matters include:

  • Representing Under Armour in a multiyear global sponsorship and apparel transaction with the National Basketball Association
  • Representing Under Armour in various professional athlete endorsement agreements, as well as professional sports league and college sponsorship agreements
  • Representing the Pac-12 Conference in various multimedia and commercial transactions, as well as litigation matters
  • Representing Major League Soccer's DC United, and its majority ownership group regarding various corporate transactions
  • Serving as outside sports and entertainment counsel to Washington Convention & Sports Authority
  • Representing a lead investor in separate bids to acquire the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders
  • Representing a minority investor group regarding a final round bid to acquire the National Basketball Association’s Atlanta Hawks
  • Representing a minority investment group regarding a bid to acquire an English Premier League team
  • Advising Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment, owner of the National Basketball Association’s Utah Jazz, regarding a multiyear arena naming rights transaction for Vivint Smart Home Arena
  • Advising the National Basketball Association’s Portland Trail Blazers regarding a multiyear arena rights transaction for the Moda Center
  • Representing Legends Hospitality in various concessions services, sponsorship and sales and marketing matters
  • Representing Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment regarding an arena operations support arrangement with AEG Facilities
  • Advising Palace Sports & Entertainment regarding a radio broadcast rights agreement
  • Advising USA Track & Field in various commercial matters, including its subscription content streaming platform
  • Representing USA Track & Field in negotiations related to USA vs the World at the Penn Relays
