VARA’s Moral Rights Experiment

October 27, 2017
Barry Werbin
The Copyright Society of the USA

Barry Werbin moderated a panel at a Copyright Society luncheon program focused on the Visual Artists Rights Act, or VARA, a part of US copyright law that protects works of visual art from mutilation or destruction, including works installed in or on real estate. The panel explored the history of VARA, review key cases (including the high profile 5Pointz graffiti art case), and examine the policies underlying VARA and artists' moral rights, both pro and con.
